Anode rods extend the life of you water tank and should be checked regularly. Replace when 75% of the anode rod has been consumed.

Flexible anodes are great for hot water tanks which are in hard-to-reach places, making it difficult or impossible to install a traditional stiff anode rod. For example, if you’re trying to install an anode in a hot water tank which is close to an eave, it would be easiest to use a flexible anode which can bend to the shape you need it to be.
